Skye’s the Limit for Scottish Seafood Producers

Fish farming giant, Marine Harvest, aims to bring over 50 new jobs to the isle of Skye, as planning permission for their latest fish feed factory is granted by Highland Councillors. The £93 million project was voted through on 21 February with ten votes to three.


Thomson Gray will continue to provide Project Management and Quantity Surveying for the construction phase and will also take up the role of CDM Advisor. Ian MacGregor of Thomson Gray added; “The project is on programme and we have been able to deliver savings in the region of £4 million. We look forward to the next stage of the project.”


Mick Watts, Group Engineer of Marine Harvest commented; “We are extremely pleased to be granted planning permission, and this marks an important step in the project’s progress. Once complete, the factory will to bring new jobs to the area and we look forward to bedding Marine Harvest into the Isle of Skye community.”


The project is due to start in Quarter 2 2017 and is to be completed in Quarter 2 2018.
