We think last year’s tournament was a great success. Here’s Seamab’s take on things and a taster of the kinds of things the money raised will go towards:

Thanks to the amazing amount of funds raised last year at the Thomson Gray Seamab Fives we have been able to spend money on things that create positive as well as educational experiences for the children at Seamab. We hoped enough money would be raised to offset the £3000 cost of 6 mountain bikes. Not only did the tournament achieve this but it actually raised even more money, £6035 to be exact, which enabled us to provide additional outdoor equipment for the children as well as some special outdoor experiences. These trips included a ski trip to Cairngorms National Park where they stayed in Wigwams in Badaguish outdoor centre and partook in various outdoor activities available there such as a ring obstacle course round the lake and of course, mountain biking with their brand new bikes! Things such as ski clothes, lift passes and ski rentals were all made possible thanks to the Thomson Gray Seamab Fives. We were also able to fund equipment needed for the Forest Schools programme that we run at Seamab where learning is based outdoors and children develop their self-esteem, learn to work as a team and how to value nature. They learn practical skills such as how to use knives, fires, axes, cooking outdoors, building shelter and making bow and arrows. The children learn resilience and practical skills. All of these experience help some of the most vulnerable children in Scotland to heal, learn and grow. Thank you so much from all at Seamab for making such a difference to our children’s lives.
