Refurbishment of Hangars 2 & 3 National Museums Scotland

Client

National Museums Scotland

Location

National Museum of Flight, East Fortune

The works comprised breaking up of the existing concrete floor slabs and replacing them with slabs more capable of carrying the weight of modern military and civil aircraft while integrating a ground source under floor heating system and power and data points into the structural slabs.

The exhibition offering is enhanced with aircraft suspended from the roof, a Spitfire mounted at attack angle greeting visitors and a large raised platform offering elevated views over the aircraft and a perfect viewpoint for the dramatic video, sound and light displays.

More detailed case studies are available on request.
