After much concern locally as to whether it would proceed this year, Peebles 3rd annual Hogmanay Torchlight Procession will definitely take place thanks to a rallying of local businesses. Thomson Gray have been involved since the start and are again delighted to continue to support this community event.
For those who’d like to attend and take part in a truly magical event see details on the Hillside Outside website – details below:
They thought it’s all over – but it isn’t now!
Rumours of the Torchlight’s Procession demise have been floating around for a month or two, and the truth is it came very close to reality. But the good news is the people of Peebles have saved Hogmanay!
Problems with torch supply, staff shortages and other factors contributed to the event coming close to cancellation, but thanks to some incredible community support, we’re now proud to announce it will go ahead for Hogmanay 2017!
Yay! We’re back on track!
Vouchers for torches (exchanged on the night for the torches) will be available to buy here from Friday morning, 24th November, from the Super Store at the Bridgegate and at the Christmas Lights Switch-On on 7 December. Torches will be £11, and we request that there are no more than three people per torch. Torchbearers must be over eight years old, but glow sticks are on sale for younger children.
We would like to thank all the companies who have played their part, and particularlyHolland and Sherry who took the initiative to round up support to save the event. Huge thanks also to the Tontine Hotel, Blackwood and Smith, Brown Brothers, theCringletie Hotel, David Duthie, David Mitchell Decorators, Evolution Packaging Solutions, Graham McGrath, Harrisons Ford, Peebles Hydro, Peebles Rovers,Peebles Pipe Band, Sainsbury’s Peebles, So Stobo, Stardust Musical Theatre,Tait and Mapp, Thomson Gray, Mercure Barony Hotel, Renwick and Weir, thePark Hotel and Tower Communications.
