Howdenburn development creates 70 new homes for local community
We’re proud to see the completion of the Howdenburn development in Jedburgh, which Thomson Gray were delighted to provide Clerk of Works services for.
The project, which was built on the site of the former Howdenburn Primary School, was developed by both Cruden Homes and Scottish Borders Housing Association and designed by Aitken Turnbull.
The plans developed in response to Scottish Borders Housing Association identifying growing demand for affordable homes, along with a need for diverse housing options in the town of Jedburgh and wider area. The development therefore features a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes across the 70 homes, allowing for different resident requirements.
As Clerk of Works, we ensured that the build was carried out to the correct specification and a high quality, as well as following building regulations and meeting safety standards. This responsibility entailed two to three site visits weekly, to complete weekly reports for the client to track progress on the development.
As the SBHA’s largest development to date, this scheme will not only positively impact the Jedburgh community, delivering much needed affordable housing, but also the residents of the Scottish Borders as a whole.
With an established office base and a strong team presence in Melrose, we are deeply committed to supporting the Scottish Borders community. Projects such as this are particularly meaningful to us, as they play a vital role in enhancing the lives of residents and strengthening the region.
