Planning permission has been granted for a new Skye hospital development. The new hospital is a replacement of the original community hospital in Broadford on the Isle of Skye. It will provide an emergency department with X-ray and ultrasound services. There will be increased out-patient clinic facilities, an infusion suite, community maternity unit and a new 24-bed in-patient ward established.
Thomson Gray’s Quantity Surveying team will be acting on behalf of NHS Highland. The the new build community hospital is being procured by the Scottish Futures Trust initiative, known as Hub, and is being delivered by Hub North Scotland Ltd.
Balfour Beatty have been appointed as the Principal Contractor to work alongside Oberlanders Architects, Waterman Group as the structural engineers and Rybka as the mechanical and electrical engineers.
Site works have commenced with an ecological and archaeological assessment of the site. This will identify any additional works required and ensure the development can go ahead without negatively affecting the local area/ecosystem.
