Thomson Gray are acting as lead advisor to support NHS Tayside and the PSCP teams delivering the new National Treatment Centre at Perth Royal Infirmary. The new centre of excellence for planned surgery includes a purpose-built unit with five new theatres to complement the five existing theatres. In addition, the centre will have two enhanced treatment rooms for ophthalmology and day procedures, dedicated patient rooms and a short stay unit. The project team has worked with staff and public partners through a series of virtual workshops to refine the clinical model and detail for the building design. The workshops have focused on how patients will access their treatment in the new centre and how the building’s design, location and configuration support this. The project is currently at Outline Business Case stage, and the project team are liaising with NHS Assure and the Scottish Government to define the project sustainability criteria and Net Zero carbon targets prior to Outline Business Case approval.
