Thomson Gray – proud to work with the Raeburn Hotel
Scottish Boutique Hotel of the Year 2016
Project Details
Built in 1832 as a grand Georgian family home the building has a rich and sometimes troubled history. A ‘B’ listed building, it was uncared for and abandoned, eventually falling into a state of disrepair. It ran as a 1 star hotel until early 2000 when it was once more left to ruin.
Restoring the hotel to its former elegant dignity
What was involved
Extensive refurbishment was planned – involving a complete re-design of existing space, design and build of extension to the historic building and creation of a new basement level to be used for additional back-of-house space
Thomson Gray provided full construction cost consultancy services on the project including cost planning, tender preparation and post contract financial control.
Project Outcomes
The completed boutique hotel provides 10 individually styled bedrooms, bar, main restaurant, library / private dining / function Room, secret library bar, courtyard and terraced areas.
Renovation of the historic Raeburn House Hotel has proved very successful. The building is back to its former state of elegance and is now a prominent, welcoming and well loved feature in the bustling Stockbridge area of Edinburgh.
Since renovation the hotel now receives exceptional ratings on various review sites such expedia.com and booking.com
