A section of upgraded Canal Towpath has been completed at Sighthill in Glasgow. Located adjacent to Mid Wharf Street/Payne Street and opposite the Pinkston Watersports complex, the works have transformed the existing towpath and surrounding environment through provision of a new 3.5m wide shared-use path, seating areas, landscape, lighting, and public realm improvements. This regeneration project provides an improved pedestrian and wheeled access connection with a similar Infrastructure scheme currently nearing completion on North Canal Bank Street. This project provides a strategic link between Glasgow City Centre via the Sighthill Transformational Regeneration Area and the Sighthill, Port Dundas and wider North Glasgow area. Thomson Gray provided project manager, quantity surveyor and principal designer services for the project working closely with Scottish Canals, SUSTRANS (Places for Everyone) and Glasgow City Council. The main contractor was ID Verde with the design team consisting of Harrison Stevens, David Narro Associates and Harley Haddow.
