Thomson Gray are pleased to confirm the final and largest phase of the ‘Pleasance Redevelopment’ has been completed in time for the commencement of the Edinburgh Festival.
The Pleasance Redevelopment has consisted of a phased refurbishment of 5 buildings over 2 years at a cost of £3.5 million.
Phase 2 of the works comprised the refurbishment and extension to the Theatre Building and 48A with multi-purpose event areas and a cabaret space and bar.
The buildings and Courtyard are the ‘face’ of the University to an estimated 500,000 people during the Festival every August.
Whilst in good condition externally the buildings were in need of refurbishment internally, with substantial improvements required to upgrade infrastructure, toilets and disabled access to meet current standards.
Thomson Gray provided full QS services from Feasibility stage to Completion of the construction works.
